Steve Dunleavy of the New York Post treats John Junior like a celebrity and Dunleavy’s obvious love for the mob has clouded his view on what a piece of crap Junior Gotti really is. Curtis Sliwa is about the coolest guy I’ve ever heard of. He was tough enough to withstand being shot at in a cab because of a ruthless Gotti order and even tougher because he fearlessly brought Gotti to trial. All the family members of Gotti Junior celebrated after the trial because they know that the money they have was due to Gotti’s corruption and crime. I hope the government finishes its job by locking up Junior Gotti. Hopefully, then the dominoes will fall and each and every one of whatever’s left of this worthless crime family is put away. I remember reading the book Donnie Brasco. He was an Italian American cop who infiltrated the mob and stated that mobsters were worthless thugs and not the glamorous family loving people you see in the movies. Also, Mario Puzo never had any contact with any mob members. That is why Puzo was such a good writer - because of his fervent imagination.

I decided to watch an episode of the Gotti’s visit to Italy with great trepidation. I haven’t seen an episode since then because actually taking time out to watch the Gottis would go against every belief that I have. I cringed repeatedly throughout the first episode as this ridiculous family who does such disservice to Italian Americans visited and gave more disservice to a country that I love so much. The first inaccuracy I noticed was that Victoria spent a lot of time in Rome, in the areas which are well known to be tourist traps and complained about her surroundings which were not really genuinely Italian but were more liken to spending all your time in Rockefeller Center or Fifth Avenue when you visit NYC.

Also, she spent an inordinate amount of time looking for hot rollers, which she couldn’t find. She then made the most ridiculous statement of the night in which she said, “That is why all Italians have ugly hair.” Ummm . . . actually, Victoria, most Italian women don’t need hot rollers and that is why you couldn’t find them!! In fact, anyone who has been to Italy knows that Italian men and women have the most beautiful hair that you will ever see in your lifetime. Bad hair days don’t exist in Italy and neither does Victoria's overprocessed Pamela Anderson wanna be hair, with REALLY bad extensions. Well, that was about all I could take for the night! I can only imagine the other atrocities that have occurred since I stopped watching. However, I am sure that when I have the flu or something that I will catch up on my Gotti T. V so that I can blog about them and piss people off.

Not His Fault

I watched patiently for the facts to unfold about hurricane Katrina. I wasn’t about to play the blame game until I knew all the facts. The first thing I blamed it on was poverty. The people in New Orleans did not have the money or resources to get out. Poverty is a huge issue in this country. A lot of kids go to school hungry. The poorest citizens paid the price in New Orleans. Then I watched as people blamed either President Bush or God. After watching the facts unfold I realized it was the ineptitude of the governor & mayor of New Orleans, Fema etc. The governor did not give the order to the National Guard to come in and regain control. Do we want the federal Government to take over state? If so then President Bush would have been at fault for not acting sooner. However, the federal government was not in charge. It wasn’t the president’s fault, as the liberals would usually like you to believe. It certainly wasn’t God’s fault. God has nothing to do with this. God is not a scary vindictive power who places natural disasters upon us to punish us. That is so narrow minded.

Twenty seven per cent of New Orleans City residents had no access to any form of private transportation, which is three times the national rate, and yet no one had devised a plan to move these citizens out of town in the event of an emergency. A New Orleans resident was nearly ten times more likely than the average American to be murdered. So was it any surprise that their police force was ineffective and deserted the city. The politicians concentrated on an ephemeral economy rather than a broad based one. So their lack of proper focus allowed the city to fall into poverty. They embraced the idea that hipness and not economic fundamentals would lead to urban renewal. This strategy causes cities such as “San Francisco” to lose jobs and becomes a distorted middle class playground for young prosperous liberals. So I waited and waited before I made an erroneous judgment unlike most.

On Sep II I watched a special on the discovery channel called: The Flight That Fought Back (Flight 93). It was probably the best documentary that I have ever seen regarding Sep 11. It was heart wrenching, intense and overdue. One of the terrorists was a flight student. His former flight instructor can not imagine that this particular terrorist could commit such crimes. I have come to realize that the scariest people are the undetectable seemingly nice people with the bad intentions. After a few of these people cross your path in life it will change you somewhat and cause you to become wary. You will never again give the benefit of the doubt, which isn’t always a bad thing.

Ridiculous As Usual

I remember in high school, a Vietnam veteran came to speak to my class and told us how much he vehemently despised Jane Fonda, even to that day, because of what she did to the morale of the troops and the image of them back in the states. Jane Fonda has since apologized but, who the hell cares about a half hearted apology because the damage she inflicted was permanent.

Cindy Sheehan’s son enlisted, he volunteered. He WAS NOT drafted. No war is a good war and chances are , if you enlist, you just might serve! When you are in the military you don’t pick and choose your battles. Lets not forget that America and England vehemently protested our initial involvement in WWII.

Cindy Sh#!#!hole had a picture of her taken with the irreverent Al Sharpton just yesterday which was genuine and touching. As usual the liberals look ridiculous. They attach themselves to women like Sheehan and think that all the bleeding heart mothers and women will emphasize and chastise Bush even more. It looks about as desperate and pathetic as the liberals appointing a nutjob like Howard Dean to lead their party. Dean is a super size dork who will always seek power because of his incurable social flaws and mental deficits. Can liberals ever look and appear remotely cool or at least attempt to?

They Sleep Around At Their Own Risk

There has been a lot of attention paid lately to missing college age girls and homicide . There is a lot of talk amongst newscasters about female friends, staying in groups and not letting a friend leave alone etc. Well, maybe they should talk to many girls who will have a different take on that sort of advice. I have often watched helplessly at the end of the night as my drunk female friends embarked to go forth with a stranger regardless of the consequences or danger.

Recently, I had a friend Melissa. When I would go out with Melissa 98% of the time I would go home in a taxi without her. She was sexually reckless and out of control. I once left a message on her cell phone telling her that I was extremely concerned as to her whereabouts. She confronted me ANGRILY the next morning stating that she was a big girl and that she didn’t need me to worry about her! She then proceeded to describe the stranger she met and slept with the night before. Melissa was really beautiful . When we were out the attention given to us by the New York men was excessive yet, it always felt so empty because I knew exactly what each and every one of those men ultimetly wanted. I eventually grew tired of Melissa because her intentions to get laid every time we ventured out at night began to wear on me.

I once stood outside of an extremely popular N.Y restaurant with another close friend of mine and pleaded with her not to venture off with a man she just met. Not only wouldn’t she budge but her “male friend” was hostile towards me which reinforced my friends resistance. I would have had to literally bulldoze her in order to stop her from walking off with him that night. Instead, I spent a sleepless night worried about her. Do you think I should have called a cop? Hmm…. I guess this would have been the dialogue :
Me: Officer please tell my friend that she needs to go home with me!
Officer: What seems to be the problem here?
Me: My friend is drunk , and stupid and she wants to have sex with a stranger.
Officer: Ok, once again, what seems to be the problem here?

Yeah…. I’ll bet that would work really well! Also, I am sure that I would have been confronted the next morning by an irrational angry friend who would have told me “ mind your own business and nice knowing you.”

The point I am trying to make is that you can not control your friends in these situations! I’ve given up trying. You can make a suggestion but ultimately they will do what they want to do! So they sleep around at their own risk!

They Have An Agenda

England has been starting to establish a strict policy such as: immigrants vow of allegiance to their country and they must learn the English Language. The day after the September 11th terrorist attacks, I remember being told that we must be sensitive to all Muslims. I remember vividly because I was here in New York. Yes, the day after.

I agreed that the liberals wanted to give the terrorists therapy instead of defending themselves. In fact the liberal ideology is to bargain and sympathize with terrorists. Liberals do not have backbones. We did attack Afghanistan shortly afterwards. However, if our president stated that immigrants must learn the language and swear allegiance to our country then he would have been accused of being a patriotic American. My God! That would have been unspeakable in the eyes of a liberal. After all, California does pay the full college tuition for some illegal immigrants.

The other day on fox news a liberal stated: “ Well, if we are attacked in America then we will want the same reaction as Tony Blair.” Ummm….. as far as I recall we were already attacked. We haven’t been attacked since then because of our President.

Remember that the liberals are strategizing right now to propagandize you into thinking that Bush has failed at his second term. They have an agenda. That agenda is to reclaim the White House. Be aware of this propaganda because they are working very hard to never face that kind of humiliation again.

Mold In My Fridge

Well I returned home from vacation. I knew I was really home when my first night back, I was cleaning mold out of my fridge. Who knew? I am a very clean person. I really did think that my fridge was clean. If there is anything that will wake you up from a too perfect vacation it will be scary black and green mold in your fridge.

I think another pinch out of my reality is seeing that guy I’ve seen around for a couple of years. He stares at me as if he’s never seen me before. However, he has seen me many times beforehand and spoken to me. However, as usual he does nothing. I just returned from a country where there was a language barrier and the men are culturally different. They are the opposite of American men in the sense that they have no reservations about letting you know that they “would like to get to know you”. In fact it may seem dominating to some uptight American women. I personally found it to be a refreshing change from the American men who are cautious to a fault.

I have had a few of these men text message and e-mail already sending me many kisses. I’ve never had an American man do that. The last E-mail I received from an American man stated that he needed to go rake the leaves for his mom over the weekend and he’ll get in touch with me on Monday. I always disliked the euro trash in New York. In fact they used to downright annoy me. Well I guess that is because they lived in New York. Unfortunately, I am an ocean away.

It Needs To Stop Now!!!

So I have returned home and unfortunately had a sleepless night as opposed to my more restful nights while I was away. I recently heard about Shasta Groene . If you are not aware of what I am talking about then I strongly suggest that you log on to foxnews.com and read all about it. I’ve always believed that the devil walks among us and is often very successful as he was in this case.

Why is it taking so long to sign the legislation needed to put a stop to the reign of terror carried out by child predators in this country? A judge let this predator out on 15,000 bail despite knowing all of his past horrific history. When will people learn that PEDOPHILES CAN NOT BE REHABILITATED!!!. Drug offenders are serving life sentences with no chance of rehabilitation as opposed to people who rape and murder children.

I think that many people in America just don’t want to talk about or address the unthinkable. However, we ignored it and the worse it became. Why is it that this country is reacting so slowly as if child predators are something new? We should have had stricter laws and legislation more than twenty years ago! Yet we are still DRAGGING our feet.

Bill O’ Reilly mentioned that child predators are the other terrorists in this country. I think this is an understatement. Why should we as a society be fearful of our children walking on their own front lawn unprotected.? Our laws do not protect us from these monsters. Bill O Reilly says that it should be 25 to life on the first offense. I disagree . There should be no chance of a second offense! It should be life and castration for the first!

Stop complaining about our rights being violated at the airport, or the laboratory experiments on helpless mice, or the fact that someone chooses to wear fur. Tell a cause such as PETA to use their often misplaced fervent energy to protect our children instead !

It is taking too long and it needs to END NOW! It is far easier to take action with a glamorous cause or one that can be brought up in conversation at the dinner table. It is much more difficult to tackle the unthinkable.

They Didn't Crush Me!

Ok, I’m thinking that maybe my last blog was a little discombobulated. I did mention how I felt about the Catholic church scandal and I don’t disagree with the last comment. However, I stated that life sentences do not occur and that is precisely the problem.

A while back I mentioned that I was standing up against a person in power who was maligning and destroying the reputations of multitudes of coworkers around me. Not a single person had the courage to come forward and stand up for themselves. Well, I did. In fact, I went to hell and back for my efforts. It has been over a year and I have moved on with my life. I thought that I had lost the battle for some time. In fact, I was told just recently that what I was trying to accomplish was virtually impossible and I did not have a chance. I remember in the very beginning I was told exactly these words” They will crush you,” and, “You will lose”. Well I didn’t lose! In fact I just found out that I accomplished the impossible and won! So it goes to show that sometimes the Davids can conquer the Goliaths. If you don’t stand up for yourself in life, then what is the point of living? You merely exist.

I’m going away for awhile and won’t be blogging for at least a month. If you haven’t been forced to hear about it then you must live in a bubble. I’ve heard enough to strongly suspect but not determine that this man is a full blown pedophile. Don’t feed me the eccentricity crap. I know all about eccentricity and I know the difference. I have been in the presence of sexually abused children whose lives have been destroyed as a result. All the signs that Michael Jackson portray are that of a pedophile. If you have worked with abused children, or maybe are a cop etc then you have the awareness that other people don’t have. You view things differently. When I see a grown man reading a book alone on a playground, I don’t think “oh how nice”. I think hmmm “why in the world is he reading here”? It always made me sick to realize that child rapists receive less jail time than drug offenders. Drug offenders often receive life sentences. Child rapists very often receive little jail time or none at all.

The Catholic Church was accused of being a haven for pedophiles. I never committed spiritual suicide as a result because I knew that the Catholic priest abusers compared to the general population was actually small. The abuse is an “American thing”. It does not exist in Europe. In Italy if a Catholic priest is accused of such a crime the priest will “disappear”, simple as that. Italians do not understand why we have this problem here. In America the church, which is Irish based and tends to be secretive, buried its head in the sand. They treated these priests with of all things; denial and acted as if it were a treatable disease. Well, pedophilia is not curable and the American Catholic Church got the wake up call they needed and are cleaning up their act.

The liberals took it as an opportunity to blast the Catholic Church and Catholics as a whole and continue to do so because they always have. Any chance to blast Catholics is a liberal way of life. However, they should focus more energy on the weak laws that exist in the criminal justice system toward child rapists as well as the overall denial of the tremendous presence of child predators in the general population. Here is a list of ten things that child rapists should be given when convicted of this crime.

They should be castrated if released
They should have pink license plates which is being suggested by law enforcement as well as having their foreheads branded with the word child predator if they are released
They should live in a rat infested hole for the majority of their life.
They should walk around in shackles if released.
They should not be allowed to own a car if released.
They should be reminded on a daily basis about the pain they have caused.
They should not be allowed to own a computer.
They should all be convicted to a life sentence. Unfortunately, that does not happen.
They should have a large sign outside of their residence that says: Child Predator Lives HERE if they are released.

Unneccessary

To the Irishman: thanks for the thumbs up! To Ralph: thanks for letting me know that I write some good @#$%!

A good friend of mine just revealed to me that she has HPV. For those “in the dark”, HPV is a permanent STD, like herpes. My friend “Karen” told me about this after a day of shopping and hanging out. She elaborated on the freezing process that she endures on occasion to stop the warts inside of her spreading and causing cervical cancer. She confided in me because a man she recently was honest with regarding the STD was not happy about it and never called her again. My friend is twenty three. She is pretty, funny and talented. I always noticed that she talked about having sex like she talked about brushing her teeth. I always felt that she tried really hard to act sexually liberated and in control of her sex life. I always felt that there was something else going on and I couldn’t pinpoint what it was. The truth, I know now, is that she is torn up inside about this. The reality is that she not in control sexually and she is not liberated. She is confused and angry. She has to live with a stupid mistake. She shouldn’t have to live with this, because it shouldn’t have happened. It bothered me when she told me and it bothers me still when I write this blog. I couldn't help her; all I could do was listen. I have to be honest; I would probably bolt like lightning if a guy told me he had an STD. So, I guess I can understand why a guy would have a problem with my friend. However, she is treating her sexual encounters as casually as highlighting her hair, and these guys barely know her to begin with. So why the hell would they stick around?

I remember my roommate in college contracting genital warts, which is the same as HPV. I remember thinking that she was always looking for affection and love by giving herself sexually to every available man. As a result she got a nice little present. Many people reading this are probably thinking “ I use a condom so I can sleep with as many people as I want as long as I am protected.” The point I’m trying to make, as I’ve made before, is that my friends are being continuously hurt and it is unnecessary. It goes way deeper than just wearing a condom. Girls are brainwashed into thinking that being objectified is going to develop their self esteem and confidence. The truth is that they are confused inside because they just don’t understand WHY they are always being hurt. Girls need to stop selling their souls and hang onto their dignity with all their might.

Every day I walk home from work and get whistled at by the construction men working on a site near my job. Some of my “sexually liberated” friends would find it rude and annoying. I think it is funny. However, those same friends would be the first to take a walk over to those guys and “pleasure them” without a second thought. Sound screwed up? Well that is exactly the point I am trying to make.

Jealous Of What?

I recently received an e mail regarding my last post. In this e-mail she stated that my views were based on jealousy. Jealous of what? I have to say that first comment was funny! Why is it that the guys will be the first to agree with me and the last to be offended? However, women will be the last to agree with me and the first to be offended. You know, we women may want to take a few cues from the guys when it comes to admitting things about ourselves. Women need to retract the claws and support each other rather than tearing each other down. I have to give guys credit a lot of the time because their sense of humor often shows a greater acceptance themselves than women seem to possess.

Women are trying too often to prove that they have sexual power and are sexually liberated. Many women are warped and brainwashed into thinking that they gain liberation through exhibitionism and sexual promiscuity. According to popular culture, not only are women supposed to “put out” for multitudes of men, but if a girl doesn’t experiment sexually with another girl as well, then that just makes her a prude. Well, the fact is, as I’ve stated before, women are regressing rather than gaining the self respect to which they should aspire. For example: getting naked for something like Girls Gone Wild is not liberating. Doing@!! @!! is just @!!!@ stupid! That guy who filmed you is making millions off of your free show. In the meantime you are not invited to any of his parties and you funded his private jet. The laugh is always on you! Rather than deluding yourself, try taking a spoonful of reality because it may actually taste ok.

I have a friend who moonlights as a socialite. I have come to discover recently that she was a former stripper and her real occupation is that of a high class escort. When we hang out I know that the money she spends on herself and her friends was probably earned by compromising herself. I don’t care because she has a heart of gold and has always been kind and caring toward my friends and me. However, I wonder whether when she was a little girl, this was the life she imagined for herself.

I’m not saying that in order to maintain self respect, all women should walk around in long-sleeved, ankle length dresses. I’ll be the first to wear a bikini or 21/2 inch heels. I am not saying that every woman should stay home every night and knit. I have had plenty of fun in my time. However, despite all my silly mishaps and extroverted moments, I was always sure that I would never go too far by compromising my principals and losing my soul.

You Are Not That Stupid

Well, I haven’t blogged in awhile. I guess that is an understatement.

I started a new job. It has taken up most of my time. I am happily no longer working for a New York City union and never will again.

Certain unions in New York City place high priority on collective bargaining rights and class action grievances and low priority on individual complaints. An individual in difficult circumstances may upset the apple cart of union officials who are cozily in bed with those in higher power. The union will cooperate. However, they set up a roadblock of delays with the intention of wearing down the grievant in order to settle the matter. Don’t let a “few” of the NYC unions fool you. They are probably the most corrupt in the nation. Well, enough said because I no longer have to pay their dues.

There is this book called He’s Not That Into You. I remember picking it up in my doctor’s office months ago, breezing through it and quickly discarding it. It’s not only a very discombobulated book but I thought it was inane. I happen to be a curious reader of these types of books when I come across them, so I don’t dismiss them all. To my surprise the writers of this book successfully marketed it to make it a # 1 bestseller. I was astounded see a few of my friends purchase it. The writers of this book are making millions off of naïve and stupid women. I watched a woman on TV say that after six years of dating a guy and no marriage proposal she realized that he wasn’t that into her and this book changed her life. This woman needed a book to tell her that!

I could probably counterattack many claims in that book. Why? I have had probably more friends than an average girl because I never relied on men for company. I have heard every story and complaint twice over. I have realized there is a “common theme.” If this theme is realized by more women, then books like that wouldn’t sell so easily. So, I’ll start small by listing ten things that women should be aware of.

Men can be dogs, deal with it. This is not a travesty, just a fact of life that you can control as a woman in your own life by your own actions.
They will use you for sex if given the opportunity. Doesn’t make them bad guys but, that is just the way they are.
Put out for men and it will cause you heartache & regrets. I guarantee it.
Act objectified and you will be objectified. Try acquiring real self-esteem/confidence instead and then you’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
They will not marry you, if you give them the cake, the fork and the crumbs.
Sex for many men doesn’t not need to involve love or emotion. That is a fact. However, it takes two to tango and you tangoed too but you can’t handle the dissociation on his part.
Not all men are obsessed with big boobs. Enough with the big, fake, soccer ball boob jobs! Plastic surgeons are lying to you because you’re funding their Lexus.
If he never calls then yeah, he is probably not that into you. Did you really need a book to tell you that?
If he waits a week to call then he may be just busy, so get a life and put down that book telling you otherwise!
Men are not rushing to get married so why are we? Dispel the myth that all women over the age of twenty four are marriage hounds.

In Response

This is in response to the last three comments on my blog.

In response to your first comment:
The terminology AIR RAIDS perhaps is confusing to people who have NO knowledge of modern warfare. When we first entered Iraq “SMART BOMBS” were used to destroy selected targets. These targets were Saddam Hussein’s headquarters in the middle of downtown Baghdad. The target buildings were destroyed with minimum damage to surrounding buildings and minimum loss of civilians. Smart bombs do not explode they implode. The building next door to the selected target suffers minimal damage and nearby buildings suffer minor damage. Sucking a building inward as a result of a smart bomb means little fire damage. For example: a selected mosque where insurgents are hiding or storing ammunition can be taken with little loss of civilian life. Why don’t we do it? POLITICS POLITICS!

In response to your second comment:
Very good! Lets blame the next Tsunami on the President of the United States and if LA suffers another earthquake lets blame President Bush. Why stop there! If a hurricane sweeps up the New England coast let’s blame it on Bush.

In response to your third comment:
I never stated that Clintons crimes against this country were his infidelity. That is just a flaw in his already despicable character. His other crimes are as follows:
A. His negligence, appeasement and deliberate inaction towards terrorism when the following attacks occurred:
1. Osama Bin Laden's attack against American marines in Yemen in 1992
2. The first bombing of the World Trade Center in 1992
3. The Kobar Towers incident in 1996
4. The bombing of American Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998
5. The bombing of the US.S. Cole in 2000
As well as Clinton paying off of the devil in North Korea by striking a deal called the Agreed Framework. Clinton paid Jim Jong II who promised NOT to produce nuclear weapons. Instead Jong II took the money and ran. Clinton the appeaser, did absolutely nothing. As a result, we coexist with a nation that possess the most terrible weapon and an insane dictator who has every intention of using them someday.
There are many more crimes but, I am keeping this short and sweet.

I think Clinton was a great "politician” but his charm never worked on me. As for your opinion about Bush’s crimes, I have discussed my disagreement in previous blogs. I don’t think Bush is perfect (who is?). However, I would rather have Kermit the Frog in the white house instead of someone who shares your warped liberal views. Have a nice life.

President Bush Is Annoying Me

Ok, President Bush is starting to annoy me! Yes, I voted for him but he is not above criticism. We are fighting the Iraq war as if it is the 17th century. Bush is being “politically correct” by not having air raids which would be highly successful. This is ridiculous. All wars are political. However, this erroneous judgment is costing precious American lives! Why is Bush acting like this? He no longer has to worry about being reelected!

Bush buckled under when pressured to give more aid for the tragic Tsunami victims. The critical UN is loaded so why didn’t they open up their pocketbooks as well. We were still the leader for Tsunami aid before Bush worried about what others may think. All the liberals complain about the homelessness and joblessness here, so why are they asking the US to give more , when we are ALWAYS and ALWAYS have been the country that gives the most? Indonesia and Sri Lanka are extreme Muslim, anti American, anti-Semitic countries. Think about that fact for a moment!

I didn’t know we had paper play money to disperse. What about the expensive body armor that is so desperately needed by the soldiers in Iraq? What’s up with the Clinton alignment to raise money? Clinton’s crimes against this country shouldn’t be forgotten. Is Bush losing his marbles?

President Bush openly snubbed Italian philosopher, statesman and cabinet member Rocco Buttiglioni when he recently visited the White House. Could it be because Buttiglioni is a Catholic who is a brave exemplar against European Union's left ruling establishment? I 'm guessing Bush is looking to win a popularity contest, which baffles me.

President Bush wants to be prom king this year. I always knew Bush wasn’t the best candidate but, I knew he was the best we could do. However, now I am worried. I think that he needs to quit some of his extracurricular activities such as White House prom committee. Bush needs to skip class and give the order for the F-16’s to take off for destination Iraq.

Guilty as charged

Wow, I guess I haven’t blogged in a while. I guess I can attribute that to being called for jury duty. To my amazement, I was picked as a juror which took up the majority of my time, for over a week. Being a juror was more tedious than I ever imagined. Not talking about the case until deliberations was difficult but, I fully understood the reasons why. At first, I contemplated being taken off of the case because by the second day, the person I thought to be the defendant was actually an attorney. Also, the intense detailed content of the case was confusing me. However, by the third day I began to relax and realized that it was really all just common sense .

The other jurors were a friendly and diverse group. Deliberations were stressful because we all had a mans fate in our hands. He could go away for 30 or more years. It was a federal crime. Four separate counts . The first two were the most serious and we all unanimously agreed to a verdict of guilty. The last two charges were not as serious. Many of the jurors tried to exercise compassion on counts three and four. The third count was not guilty due to lack of evidence. The fourth count was hung for awhile by myself and another juror who found him to be guilty as opposed to the rest of the group. We saw the last verdict in simple black and white terms and felt that our “opinion” of the charge was irrelevant. After four hours of deliberating the other jurors agreed that the fourth count was also guilty as charged.

Did I lose sleep over that last count? Yes, a little. I could not get the defendants face out of my mind as the verdict was read. Did he deserve it? Probably. I guess he must have been arrogant enough to think he could get away with it. I guess the defense underestimated the intelligence of the jurors. I did my job and eventually realized that holding out on the fourth count was the right thing to do. I now have no regrets. However, I hope I will never be in that position again which determines the fate of another human being.

Last but not least, I had pleasant conversations with a young “just married juror". He told me that a solid permanent marriage was of the utmost importance to him. However, I guess he still felt it was appropriate to slip that note in my coat pocket, on the last day, expressing his admiration for me. Oooook, I guess a good marriage can still allow for cheating on the side?

Strike Three You're OUT

Hey, Joe. I ‘m not disagreeing with you. I just said the “delicious” comment was wimpy and it kinda was.

By the way, Fletch, you don’t deserve a cheater.

So I have always applied the “three strike outs” with men that I date. It is very effective. It generally applies to respect and common courtesy. For example: If you say you are going to call me on a certain night, then you should. If you schedule a date with me then you shouldn’t cancel unless a family member died or you were deathly ill. Believe it or not, a lot of men strike out under these simple terms pretty quickly. They will call again or see me again somewhere and act as if nothing happened. I will politely tell them that they struck out three times and we will no longer be dating. Almost 100% of the time they are begging me to give them another chance and their pleads very often turn into outright groveling. It never ceases to amaze me! It amazes me not just because of the groveling but, when I do give them another chance, they almost always quickly strike out again! They are simply never able to pull it together. Just recently a couple of weeks ago this happened. He broke our first date, didn’t call when he said he would afterwards and then groveled for forty-five minute (yes 45 minutes) after I told him, “strike three you're out”. However, he was unable to successfully get back into my good graces. He was unable to take the initiative and take charge. In other words “be a guy”. He was so unsuccessful that we will NEVER even go on a FIRST date. Now that is lame. I have never seen such ineptitude. These guys are used to doing absolutely nothing when it comes to wooing a girl. Their idea of getting to know her is having her on her back by the first date and possibly being forced into making her coffee the next morning or better yet she makes it for them.

I am not being difficult. Being difficult would be one of those girls who want you to stop spending time with your friends or want you to change etc etc, or say, “ where is this going”. I once listened to a girl in the restaurant booth behind me complain that her boyfriend never took her to France on long weekends, like her coworkers boyfriend did. She said, “ I DESERVE to go to France.” She complained about what seemed to be a respectable but clueless boyfriend. There is a difference between a spoiled witch such as that and simply demanding respect.

Many of my friends will never confront their dates or boyfriends disrespectful behavior simply because, they want a boyfriend. A girl who doesn’t demand respect is generally a girl who gets nowhere in the long run except to be dumped. Well this hasn’t happened to me. I will accept nothing less than simple common courtesy. Until then each and every one of these men can date the women with the low self esteem and the spoiled witches. When these men wake up someday and realize that their life didn’t turn out as they expected then all I can say is “ they have no one to blame but themselves”.

Mini Turnoffs

Hey Frank, thank you for the comment. I'm definitely up for a discussion.

So I met this guy and we started to date. He seemed cool. I stress the word “seemed”. I agreed to give him my phone number and we began the dating foray. However, he was the rebound man! The rebound man is a man who usually has just broken up with a girl for only two to four months. He very often acts as if the next dating scenario should begin as a book and he can take it up where he left off. Um no. Guys, it doesn’t work that way. A new relationship is just that, new! It just so happens that you have to start all over again and work at starting a new and successful project. If you are not up for that, then you need to go back to your old girlfriend , and work on what went wrong or don’t start dating again for at least a year.

I am always reading in stupid magazines like Cosmo etc, how men need their space and are commitment phobes blah blah blah . Puuleese. I always experience the opposite. Many men want to be an instant couple especially the rebound men. Rebound men want to do the same things that they did with their last girlfriend and assume you are already a “couple” by the second date . For instance when this man called to ask me out on a second date he asked if I would like to babysit his infant godchild with him and proceeded to describe his godchild as “delicious”. Thus began what my friends and I deem the “mini turnoff.” The miniturnoffs are dangerous because if they turn into major turnoffs then there is no turning back. Well, I declined the “exciting” offer to play house. Hey, I like kids and I will definitely have my own someday but, that is just lame.

On our second date we went to dinner and he ordered me a margarita, after I said I didn’t want one. Then he drank from my straw and switched forks with me because he wanted to taste my entrée & margarita . He said “I don’t have germs”. Oooook. He was acting way too familiar with me. Well, that turned into major turnoff # 2. I guess he and his last girlfriend of only three months ago did this all the time with each other . However, I am not his last girlfriend and did it ever occur to him that this may not be cool with me regardless of him or I having germs. I mean we all have idiosyncrasies and that is definitely one of mine!

Finally after our second date he asked me again to babysit with him his “delicious godchild” on a Friday night. Also probably did this frequently with his last girlfriend. So that began major turnoff # 3. Well there was no turning back at this point. The “delicious” comment wasn’t helping! Kinda wimpy. Yeah. I mean the baby wasn’t a cookie for God’s sake. I guess his status as a doctor and his endless compliments worked on everyone else except me! Men can be incredibly lame especially those on the rebound. If they don’t want to work at the very beginning stages of dating, imagine this person in a marriage which would require even more work. Asking someone to babysit with you on a second date is not only lame but unimaginative and lazy.

So, I would like to summarize my mini & major turnoffs of the month: Rebound men are bad news. Don’t ask me to play house with you on a second date. Don’t call a baby “delicious”. Assume that little things like switching forks and sharing straws may turn me off because you don’t know me and I may not like that! Also, I am not your instant girlfriend, I just met you and it takes time. However, there is just simply a spark or there isn’t and in this case the spark was put out by no fault of my own.

Its Over (thank God)

The presidential campaign was a trying time for a young pro Bush female to walk the streets of Manhattan. I am not someone who people suspect may be a supporter. For starters, I am attractive and female. Apparently, people seem to assume that you must be the opposite when you are not a liberal. I decided to put a pro-Bush button on my gym bag, and vividly remember my first walk uptown to my gym, bravely wearing my button and feeling more petrified than if I was wearing the insignia of Satan. Each walk uptown became easier, but occasionally I needed to turn my bag around and hide the abhorrable button from view. However, it was sometimes useful to scare away the liberal vampires.

Everywhere I went in NYC, I encountered pro-Kerry cardboard-sign-holding “annoyances”. I do remember blatantly responding to a man who called me a non-American for having the pro Bush button. I replied simply, “Your boy is going to lose.” I walked away with great apprehension after I made that comment because the doubt from living in NYC was beginning to wear away at my confidence. It was beginning to take its toll. In a fit of delirium from the Bush bashing throughout the city, I bravely pulled an anti-Bush sign off a subway pole before stepping on the train, to the frantic protests of my friend who said, “We are in New York. Are you crazy? We’re going to get killed.” We made our getaway by hopping onto a subway car and I was oddly exhilarated.

Liberal men are not men that I choose to date. Unfortunately they run rampant in this city. I was presented with the usual lines: “Would you like to go for coffee?” or “Can I take you out on a date?” while at the same time I was in full view of their anti-Bush buttons adorning their bags or coats. Very often, I would grit my teeth and say “I’m seeing someone” and in my mind that was President Bush.

Luckily for us, the majority of Americans were smart enough to see through the anti-Bush propaganda and the future of our country (for the next four years, anyway) is no longer at risk.

The day after the election the stunned liberals walked the streets in a daze of defeat and astonishment. They picked up the NY Times to be coddled and told that their arrogance was still valid and the rest of the country was a bunch of clueless ignorant fools. But, what else is new? I mean this is New York, after all.

Like Bush Won

This post is in response to the last two comments on my blog. Actually, I was reluctant to respond to these comments at all because both of them were so absurd that I honestly thought they were someone’s idea of a joke. Anyway, here goes.

Allistair: I am deliriously happy and not at all sad. You obviously don’t know how to spell because the word patriot is not spelled Nazism. Have you read the Patriot Act? It gets judges to act expeditiously on weekends as well as weekdays, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It doesn’t give the government any more power than that. In response to your minority/internment comment: We live in a democracy where everybody can express their differences and the majority rules. That does not mean the minority goes to jail. It means both work together because they understand each other better. What you need to do, Allistair, is to realize that you are a propagandized fool, who needs to educate himself or herself, grow up and stop whining.

This is in response to the last comment: You like need to like learn how to like spell before you like comment. Like it’s Moore and not Myer and like if you are like below the age of like twelve you are like not allowed to like comment.

Bush wins and...Michael Moore...SHOVE IT!

YEAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, enough said. I didn’t really feel like being eloquent this time.

I have one last thing to say. I want to address all those celebrities who came out and insulted Bush: I went to your movies to be entertained. Instead you all took it upon yourselves to offend me SO MUCH, that I will never see another one of your movies again, if I can help it.
To name only a few from so many:

Whoopi Goldberg:
You have a sewer mouth and you got what you deserved.

Cameron Diaz:
You insulted the president and called him “stupid”. Well, my brother and friends don’t think you are hot anymore. In fact, they think that you are “aging badly”.

Leonardo Di Caprio:
You will always look like a twelve year old with wrinkles.

Ashton Kutcher:
No, you got punked! You will be a flash in the pan before you know it.

John Cusack:
Your arrogance is intolerable.

Jay Leno:
the BIGGEST Bush basher of all, so much, it was monstrous and unforgivable.

And last but not least.....

Michael Moore: SHOVE IT!

I would like to thank those stars that were not overly arrogant enough to annoy or offend and realized that they are supposed to be entertainers after all and not political pundits. If anyone reading my blog would LIKE TO ADD to this list, please do, because we must remember them all with great fondness. I would like to say to those liberals here in NY who snickered at the small Bush button on my bag, well guess who’s snickering now! And last but not least:

Traditional values and faith surprisingly overrode everything else. This election gave me new hope for the future of our country.

Choose Wisely

Well, I watched the Yankee/ Sox game fervently and wanted the Yankees to win because I really just wanted to go to the parade. I was in disbelief when they actually lost. However, I always secretly root for the underdog. It’s too easy to be a die hard Yankee fan. I certainly didn’t wake up the next day in a depression as was expected of most New Yorkers. I mean it is baseball after all. However, when November 2nd rolls around I think that is a reason to overreact. This will be a defeat or victory that will affect us all and we need to feel that same kind of passion as we do for baseball because after all “it is really just politics” doesn’t apply on Nov 2.

Everywhere I go in NYC, I encounter a pro-Kerry cardboard-sign-holding “annoyance”. Their shock at my Pro-bush and anti-Kerry stance usually leaves them speechless. If they are quick enough to recover, they will stumble on something to say. However, what they usually say to me is generally baseless. The other day a man was holding an anti-Bush cardboard sign with anti-Bush buttons adorning his entire head. In all honesty, he looked as if he was one step away from being committed. He stood on a street corner and scared away the majority of people from looking at him, let alone speaking to him. I instead looked him square in the eye and said, “I’m voting for Bush”. His psychotic demeanor changed into more of a shocked deranged man who was once again speechless like all the rest. His first words were to repeat what I said. Finally as I crossed the street he was able to muster: “What has Bush done to improve your life in the past four years?” Well, unfortunately, I was too far away to respond, so I will now in simple terms:

1.Bush has not made my life worse, which it would have been if Gore were president. I am sure that if Gore were president things would not be as good.

2. Are we safer? Yes we have not been attacked since 9-11.

3.Economy? I am paying fewer taxes under Bush than I did under Clinton and so are many others, especially for those now who have no marriage penalty.

If Kerry wins:

Taxes will go up. Don’t even doubt it.
We’ll probably take a longer time to reach economic recovery.
We’ll probably be on the road to socialism.
We will definitely be less safe in regards to terrorists.

Choose wisely.

Scarlett, thanks for the thumbs up on my last post.

Choose or Whatever

Hey, Fletch I was happy to hear from you!I thought you disappeared:-)

Hi Joshua, Thank you for the thumbs up and checking out my blog. I guess I am kind of like a lobster, tough only on the outside.

I was in a bar last winter when P Diddy barged in with his trail of “Choose or Lose”gang. Puffy jumped on top of the bar and spoke briefly through his blow horn then asked a series of questions. Puffy was short in person and very much the spaz. When interviewing he would look from left to right so quickly that it reminded me somewhat of Linda Blair in the exorcist. I asked his followers what this was all about. They said they just wanted to get people to vote and were not trying to influence the election. Hmmm, interesting, because I saw a few Kerry buttons that night and have noticed that most of the people Puffy speaks with are Hollywood liberals.

My friend is twenty three. She doesn’t really even know the difference between a Democrat and a Republican. She thinks it’s “cool” to bash Bush and thinks the war is wrong. However, she admits that she doesn’t know why she feels this way except for the fact that she “just does”.

I am all for registering to vote. However, if you are voting just because someone told you how to vote or you were just influenced by what you’ve seen on your campus or heard from your liberal friends, then reconsider. Ask your self if you are able to answer these questions: Do you believe that the world needs proof of WMDS? Do you feel that the Bush tax cut is effective and why or why not? Do you believe that senior citizens can benefit from the new prescription drug program and why? What was the economic rate six months before 9-11 and shortly afterwards? What are the definitions of a recession? depression?

If you can’t effectively answer even some of these questions, then realize that you probably are not ready to vote in this election. I’m not saying that you are stupid but, voting is not a joke and maybe you have just been too busy to pay careful enough attention. A nonvoter is better than a clueless voter. “Choose or Lose” is a joke unless you are well informed.

Bush Held His Own

Bush held his own Friday night. Kerry was pessimistic and cynical. Bush was optimistic and hopeful. Kerry mentioned that Bush was the worst president in our economy’s history in 72 years. I may be inaccurate on the chronological # but that is close to what Kerry said. I guess Kerry forgot about President Carter. Kerry also promised he would not raise our taxes. He is a Massachusets senator for God’s sake. Look at his track record. Who is he kidding! I got the tax cut. I am middle class and I greatly benefited from Bush’s tax cut. Who is Kerry trying to fool by stating that it only benefits the rich? I am living in a socialistic, most heavily taxed city and that is the fault of the Democrats. I didn’t really understand Kerry’s babble on partial birth abortion. It seems to me that what Bush said made sense. Kerry simply voted against banning partial birth. I am pro choice but I draw the line when it comes to terminating a baby that would be considered “a preemie” if it was born.

Kerry keeps mentioning that the only focus should have been on Osama Bin Laden. Nice try Kerry but I am not naïve enough to believe that ridiculous rhetoric. That is like saying that in order to stop a bee attack you must kill a single bee and not destroy the hive! Bush was the first President to face a horrendous terrorist attack on American soil. An already dwindling economy became disastrous shortly afterwards. On top of the plummeting economy he had to face a different world and terrorists who have a thirty-year head start. My God. Give the guy some credit.

Kerry stated that the world is more dangerous today with Bush in office. Hmmmm, that is interesting, considering that NOTHING has happened on American soil since 9-11. General Franks, Egypt and many others told Bush that there were WMDS. If Bush didn’t attack Iraq it would have been an impeachable offense. The liberals would have blamed Bush if we were attacked again! Bush is unfortunately acting on political correctness right now in Iraq and things will improve when our elections are over. It seems reflective of our society to give up and think that someone else is needed to finish the job. Maybe that is why there is so much divorce in America? Nobody wants to face the reality of marriage, or work at it. They want the easy fix and think divorce is the answer. You think that if you divorce Bush and marry Kerry, then things will get better? When we are attacked again because of the liberal Kerry who presides as our president, you will want to divorce him too. However, by then it will be too late. Whatever happens will be more catastrophic because the terrorists have planned it that way. I wonder who Osama Bin Laden wants us to elect as our president? Well, I would think that he has posters of Kerry in his bunker with the word “sensitive” as an accompaniment. Bin Laden, I’m sure, would emerge no longer fearful and resume his former MO under the liberal reign of President Kerry.

Not Gonna Happen

Speaking of slick in my last post. I ‘ve been thinking of what actually is slick and some things that won’t get by me when men attempt to be slick.

Things that are just “not gonna happen":

I saw your girlfriend talking to you yesterday. Don’t flirt with me today.
Not gonna happen.

I saw your ring.
Not gonna happen.

I’m not sleeping with you any time soon. In fact that is something that you will be very surprised about.
Yeah, not gonna when you wonna.

I am not going to ask you out. I don’t do that. Call me old fashioned.
Not gonna happen.

I’m not going to offer you my digits after talking to you for a total of five minutes.
Not gonna happen.

You’re an arrogant guy who thinks he deserves everything and is denied nothing. I don’t care what hospital or bank you work in!
Not gonna happen.

I ‘m not going to swoon over you. I just met you. I barely know you. I don’t care how much money you make!
Not gonna happen.

I may really like you but I won’t throw myself on top of you like every girl you have met previously. I don’t do that.
Not gonna happen.

The person I’ll willingly be “needy” for will be the person I spend the rest of my life with. Until then, its not gonna happen .

In reference to comment # 3. If your wondering what I am talking about, well that is for me to know and you not to, unless you need to, if it happened:-)

Body Language?

Well I tried to fully watch the debate, I really did. But honestly it was just too boring. Sorry, but they were both just not wowing me enough to stay attentive. It has been said that Kerry wins hands down for body language and that is important for some people when it comes to voting. Hmmm interesting? I know plenty of girls who thought the “body language” of their boyfriends was stupendous and came to discover that in reality these same men were two timing slimeballs.

Personally I know what’s important and I know what I need. That applies to politics as well. “Slick” never gets by me. Good body language won’t get my vote. I’m wondering about Kerry’s comment in which he said: “ they had to close down the subway In New York when the Republican convention was there.” That never happened! What the #*#* is he talking about!

Checkmate

It seems that there has been a lot of attention given to bloggers lately. The terms being used have been pajama clad, scruffy, no names. In a sense, a bunch of “dweebs”. Ok, well I have decided to post a picture of myself taken last week to prove that I am not a pajama-clad, nose picking, computer obsessed, dweeb. If anyone begs to differ I welcome the criticism. However, I do love my Victoria Secret hot pink P.J’s.

I think the elitist media is a little nervous. For instance, people with regular jobs actually have the insight and knowledge now to expose the media if they try to dupe the public. The elitist media thinks that if you didn’t go to an elite privileged journalistic school and graduate with top honors then you have no business writing. Well I beg to differ. A good writer has a lot of life experience and writing expertise is very often developed over time. If all the writing talents were from the same grain then how boring would that be? Then again, maybe that explains why the media is so left leaning.

The Kerry camp sent out propaganda scaring the 18-30 yr olds that there will be a draft put back into place. Give me a break. What really unnerves me is both of the political camps know how naive and gullible my age group is. It’s a sad fact but, a reality. Here are some reasons why the draft propaganda is not true.

The Iraq war is not a major war. 10000 deaths is certainly tragic but, in terms of deaths it is not a major war and that is a fact.

We are doing a good job with volunteer recruits and we still have the necessary number of volunteers

Bush is going to be withdrawing troops from Korea and Europe.

The pentagon is not even planning a draft. Al Sharpton was the one who started the draft rumor.

If we had a draft it would have to be a major war. A draft isn’t even a good idea. Volunteers are what make a good army because they want to be there.

The Marines have historically been volunteers because they are the toughest branch.

Volunteers have a lot of benefits such as medical care, and education. The same benefits would have to be given if there was a draft and that would be costly.

Relax! There is not going to be a draft. It is propaganda designed to scare you into voting against Bush. If you believed it, then realize that you are the pawn and they are the skilled players who made you the checkmate.

Old Yellers

Dan Rather is supporting that forged National Guard document which attempted to malign President Bush. Wow, I guess the liberal media has really finally crossed all lines. I think that Dan Rather should be held accountable for lying to the public and held liable. It is well known that he is a raging liberal and his daughter campaigns against Bush. I guess his arrogance has reached catastrophic proportions. I think for him to even continue on, as an “impartial” news anchor on CBS is an insult to all Americans. He needs to resign. I have never seen the Dems so desperate and pathetic. They have stooped to all lows. Dan Rather didn’t even cover the Swift Boat and spent inordinate news coverage on a FAKE document. This document has a font that couldn’t exist in that time as well as other 100% proven evidence that it is forged! The Today Show never even covered the Swift Boat. However, they did cover Kitty Kelly. Yes, that Kitty Kelly! They may as well have interviewed Big Bird. The media is threatening my liberties as we speak. I am being presented with distortions, propaganda and the malicious left slant on a daily basis. Americans are not this stupid! We need to begin taking a stance and demand that the media present this country with UNBIASED political coverage!

So what is up with AL Gore? He is acting like a dog with rabies. His latest speeches make no sense and his liberal rhetoric makes him seem as if he is mentally ill. For everybody reading this thank GOD that Al Gore did not win the last election. Gore is officially Old Yeller. Another case of the Dems gone crazy. I see it every day here in NYC. The Republicans sit back with their classy reserve, truthful rhetoric and quiet power. They have slowly decimated the liberals. The Dems have responded by looking like out of control fools. What else is new? No surprise, since they also also eat burritos and cake with Michael Moore.

I love Band of Brothers. Every time it comes on I am glued to the history channel. I thought to myself how my generation will never experience what those men experienced. It occurred to me that probably many liberal men feel guilty about the Iraq war. They know that they wouldn’t have the guts or resolve to defend their country if asked. They would tuck their tail between their legs and run. They feel guilty if their brother, cousin or next door neighbor is there dying instead of them. As a result of this guilt they turn on the president and find every injustice for the war.

Have you read Unfit for Command? If you haven’t, pick it up and wonder why 260 Vietnam veterans would be so inclined to tell us why Kerry is unfit? Why would they bother other than the fact that Kerry is a dangerous fraud? By the way, have you seen Dennis Miller on CNBC? He is one of the few outspoken funny republicans. I think I have a little crush on him.

Well, I am tired of the lame argument that the liberals shoot at me. They never back up their facts and are generally misinformed. Wonder why the majority of bloggers are not liberals? Well, I guess because we know our stuff and can recite the alphabet. It looks like their boy is losing!

You'd Be Surprised

The convention ensued and I happen to live here in New York among the raging liberals and the protestors. I did not leave the city unlike the majority of the people living here. I caught the important parts of the convention each night. I am a strong supporter of Bush and yet I live in one of the most liberal states in the U.S.

One of the protestors here proceeded to kick a cop in the head. This cop was beaten into unconsciousness and is now in the hospital. This protestor was a twenty year old, mentally unstable individual who lived in a shelter. The Democrats should be humiliated that their party is represented in this way. Zell Miller was chastised as a mean, mean man! Give me a break! As opposed to Al Sharpton’s scathing speech? Also, the swift boat veterans are chastised for a three minute ad! I guess the Dems forgot about that THREE HOUR MOVIE!

Despite my surroundings in NYC, I have not wavered in my support of the president. I watched the keynote speakers at the convention and I was even more convinced of the greatness of his party. I think Bush’s "swagger" is the best swagger I'll ever see. Wonder what it may be like to exist in a city where everywhere you turn there is hatred for the president and hardly a word in his support? I remember before September 11th feeling the same way about mayor Giuliani who was also disliked. I watched as this city realized on Sep 11 what a great leader he really was. However, It took the greatest tragedy to shift their opinion favorably towards Giuliani.

I am going to give ten facts about me and why I am still voting for Bush, some of which may surprise you:

I belong to a union. It is a corrupt union, but a union nonetheless. Still voting for Bush.

I am pro choice. I could never have an abortion but I will always be pro choice. Still voting Bush.

I support regulated stem cell research. Still voting Bush.

Close family members have been unemployed for over three years now. Still voting Bush.

Gay marriage doesn’t bother me. To each his own. However, I believe that the union is still man/woman and I am not denouncing the conservative opposition either.

A president’s four month service in a war more than 30 years ago does not make him the best leader of the free world today.

I was here in NYC on Sep 11. I spent time with the firefighters and construction workers at the Red Cross shortly afterwards. If you weren’t here you may never understand the magnitude and probably do not feel the reality of imminent terrorism.

The economy is improving, but you will not hear that on CNN or any of the liberal media. The media is Kerry’s base and it is dangerous.

I am not amongst the rich, spoiled and powerful. Still voting Bush.

I saw through Clinton and I see through Kerry. Maybe, this is because I am not the type of girl who will crawl under a desk and "service" a powerful man, even if he is the leader of the free world. I think you get my point :-)

Gotti Stupid

So, I didn’t have a lot to do one night and happened to watch “Growing Up Gotti”. I was drawn in because I myself am Italian and often like to see how we are portrayed, which is embarrassing, more often than not. This time it was even worse! You see, the Sopranos are fiction, but this is supposedly “real life” and what could be worse than being defamed in a real life show.

I watched Victoria Gotti afterwards being interviewed on a tabloid T.V show. She stated that she wanted to give her sons a good name and wanted everyone to know that Italian women are not Carmella Sopranos. Who is she kidding! She is a classless exhibitionist. Her sons have accents so thick that they sound speech impaired and very often have to be subtitled. Her cheesy mansion matches her cheesy lifestyle. She validates her “ intelligence” because she writes for Star magazine. I could write for Star and so could my neighbor’s dog.

I don’t understand this fascination with the Italian mob. My family is in no way connected to the mafia. We are all educated and well spoken. I grew up around boys like the Gottis but they were the ones who always ended up being the dropouts, couldn’t hold a conversation or a fork, and the scary guys you see ten years later and wince because they haven’t changed (think: Night At the Roxbury).

I watched someone on “NYPD Blue” the other day say in dialogue the words: “mobbed up guinea.” I thought, “Wow! If that were a derogatory referral to any other ethnic group there would have been an uproar.” Even Italians do not call each other “guinea”, and yet, we allow them to get away with this on T.V.?

Pick up a few foreign Italian films and this will give you a better insight to the beauty that is “Italian”, rather than the American portrayals. Here are ten misconceptions about Italian Americans.

My family is not in the mob.
My siblings, friends and myself do not act like the Soprano women or the speech impaired Gotti boys.
We do not say, “Fugettabutit.” We say, “Forget about it.”
4. I do not wear leopard prints, sparkly clothes, chains, or scary hair. Neither do my brother, my mom or my friends.
We go to college and sometimes even graduate.
We can speak in clear coherent sentences.
7. My engaging uncle is a dead ringer for Santino Corleone except, he doesn’t kill people.
We do cook a lot and we cook well. However, this is one positive portrayal.
We are charismatic, warm and colorful but, in a good way, without all the stupidity.
Refer in any way that I am mob associated or a “Gotti guido”, and you will be dealt with : ).

Sore Whiny Losers

So I watched the “girlie convention”. Ooops…. I’m sorry the Democratic convention. Theresa Heinz Kerry is a pompous windbag. So what about her “woman’s rights” babble in her bizarre speech? According to her, its still 1970, and women are still burning bras while the Vietnam War rages on…. ok whatever? Alas, Edwards promised us everything plus Sunday visits to our homes. Al Sharpton is just so ridiculous that he is almost likable. Ted Kennedy who tried to secretly nab funding that went to help capture known terrorists spoke “eloquently”.

Kerry looks a little better next to Edwards. However, Kerry still looks like he is about to visit the grim reaper. Lets not forget to mention, Bill Maher, who’s face resembles that of a rat, who is consistently Bush and Catholic bashing on CNN, and acting as if he is NOT a racist. So, what’s up with Ben Affleck thinking he is going to be the next John F. Kennedy Jr. Affleck never flipped my switch. He is talentless.

Kerry has absolutely no “war face”. He recently announced that he wants to fight a more SENSITIVE war on terror! I rest my case. I’ll bet Osama Bin Laden loves that one. I can’t wait for Bush, Cheney and Schwarzenegger to stand up there and flex some muscle : ).

Oh, and when are the Dems going to stop being sore whiny losers about Florida? They are like that whiny kid in the ball game who grabs the ball, runs away and won’t give it back because he thinks that your not playing “fair”.

Here are ten things to consider right now:

If Sandy Berger were a Republican, Democrats would have been screaming just like “Dean”.
Fox News was criticized for what? Presenting opposing views? Consider that CNN is as left as left can be.
Stem cell research is one issue! You have to accept the overall good with some of the bad, just like a relationship.
More than 80 mass graves, torture chambers, rape rooms, botulinium toxins, and camps to train terrorists have been found in Iraq.WMDS have not appeared leaving the “left” to focus on the absence of equipment rather than the presence of evil.
America stands ALONE as a superpower. When you stand alone, you are an anomaly, which means, you cannot wait for jealous anti American communist nations to approve us defending and protecting our democracy.
Its crazy to expect instant results. The terrorists started this war three decades ago. They have had a 30-year head start. Because of the Clinton administrations appeasement, we were not aware of it until Sep 11.
The ACLU has sued to STOP tightened employment requirements for airport screeners and SUPPORTS the separation that handicaps communication between U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies to help FIGHT terrorism.
The lack of progress on securing our borders will be even worse under Kerry.
Appeasement doesn’t prevent wars it only leads to more dangerous wars, death and destruction.
Winston Churchill called WWII “ the unnecessary war” Why? Because America and England sat back, appeased and defended too little too late!

.

I Need A Green Light

So there is this guy. We’ve been infrequent acquaintances for a couple of years now. He has walked me home from my gym a couple of times. He will always initiate the conversation. Once or twice he has stopped me on the street to chat. I happened to accidentally find his profile on a dating site, when trolling it for my friend, a lucky find for me, because I knew for sure he was single. So why does he always stop to talk with me? What is holding him back? The conversations are like pulling teeth. I actually don’t care anymore. His insecurity and obvious fear of asking me out caused me to lose interest in him a long time ago. I guess he is still waiting for me to make the first move. He has been waiting a long time.

It seems that men often fall into two categories. The first is the player. The player will approach you, no holds barred, as well as approaching every pretty girl he meets. Generally the player wants to just get laid so his standards are not too high. If you are a smart girl you have radar for the players. The other type of guy is the “ do nothing, say nothing kind of guy”. This guy fears rejection so much that the very idea of even initiating conversation with a girl makes him always do nothing. He will defend and use every justification possible in his mind for his “ I won’t make a move” mentality. Women always approach him instead because it is easier for him. Ironically, this kind of guy will frequently complain about the lack of quality traits in girls that he dates.

Occasionally, I encounter that friendly guy who isn’t so blatant. This specimen doesn’t have the usual transparency of the player and very often leaves me confused because the happy medium is rare and I am suspicious of this unusual breed. I am not the type to be the aggressor. I am often told I’m unapproachable, blah, blah. Well, meanwhile the guy who wants to talk to me and who I wouldn’t mind talking to, won’t! This will very often leave us side by side, with nary a word. So, it is an opportunity missed sometimes repeatedly or sometimes just once.

Men might whine and say: “Why should I be the one to suffer and make the first move”? The answer is surprisingly simple: Because you are the man and I am the woman! There is a difference! You don’t have to give birth do you? Put aside your insecurities and go for it! I NEED a green light! That one smile and utterance will leave you to discover that I am not the ice princess or everything else you assumed me to be. If your negative suspicion is right with some women then at least you will know it wasn’t an opportunity missed. After a few more times it will become effortless and then someday a worthwhile connection will be made.

We Will Fall.

So what do you do when most people prefer to sit back and not fight? What do you do when you are the only one with the resolve to fight back? Well my current personal situation may be small compared to the world situation. However, it has taught me a valuable lesson. I realized that what I have stated in my previous politically themed blogs has rung true in my personal life. I have realized fully that your politics very often mirror your outlook on life and the moral choices that you make.

I have always known that you cannot reason with or appease evil. You always have to fight back when you are confronted with the unreasonable and the morally wrong. Many others in my situation have chosen to endure mistreatment because they have decided to bury their head in the sand rather then confront the aggressor. I choose to confront the aggressor. I was called a “ firecracker” because of the stance I am taking. Appeasement and pacifism throughout history never leads to security and rarely peace. It is naïve to think otherwise. People historically sit back and watch evil flourish. They turn their heads and then at the last minute they fight back when it is very often too late. My security was jeopardized so I took action. I don’t know what the outcome will be but I am positive, I’m an optimist with the faith that things happen for a reason.

My personal situation may be a reflection of what our country is facing now. If we remain naive, cynical, if we appease, pacify, if we listen to and swallow whole the rhetoric of such ideas as Fahrenheit 9-11 then we will grow resistant to the idea of absolute evil. My generation is spoiled and has not had to sacrifice anything for freedom, in contrast to the generations before us who gave us what we have today! Opposing liberal political parties cannot see past their political agendas to admit to the sobering reality of what is really happening to us as a result of fascists who will stop at nothing to bring America to its knees.

There are two types of Americans. The first are the ones who know what is really going on. They seek out the alternative media, which is the internet, and the talk radio shows. This is where they hear the real truth. The truth is not presented in daily newspapers or film. The other type of Americans are those who don’t have a clue as to what is going on! They are unknowingly being brainwashed by the common everyday media. Lets not forget that Hitler convinced an entire nation that a certain race of people were inferior and evil. That is called propaganda. Propaganda is powerful and you may very well be a victim of it. Remember those liberal professors who tried to brainwash our infantile nineteen year old minds in college? Lucky for me, I was smart enough after college to wake up and realize exactly what they were trying to do and fortunately they did not succeed!

We may eventually topple as a nation just like the fall of Rome. A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself within! We are actually mirroring Rome’s history right now! If we fall, then America will no longer be democratic and our freedoms will be a thing of the past for our children and us. Once this happens it cannot be reversed. We have the power to stop the fall and the most crucial time will be in November.

Small Favors

There are those few in life who do small favors and are unaware that they actually make a difference. For instance: The Bonanza bus driver who illegally stopped at my street instead of the terminal thus saving me an expensive cab fare. The gym manager who gives me passes to use another gym temporarily because she knows the money to transfer over would be too expensive and it will be only for a short time. The train dispatcher in Penn station who did not ask me to pay for the more expensive reserved ticket after I missed my train and ended up on a costly reserved train. The woman who returned my wallet with credit cards and money all in tact. That woman who said to me “watch out!” because she noticed I was preoccupied and about to walk into incoming traffic thus possibly saving my life. The food emporium manager who gave me food for free because I didn’t have enough money in my wallet to pay for it all. One of my former bosses who said to me “I hired you for your enthusiasm, I am not going to fire you, relax!” and so I did. Of course I know being a girl helped in the next situation but I can’t forget those cops who did not give me those speeding tickets.

These people break the rules or are kind for no apparent reason. They don’t know me; they have no reason to be nice to me. I mean really, who am I to them? However, what they don’t realize is what they may consider to be a small and not out of the way favor meant everything to me at that moment in a very big way. As a result, I know that in the future when given the opportunity I will break the rules and be kind to someone for no apparent reason except that I can and it is no big deal.

Sincerely yours,

Rita Hayworth

My Life On Hold

When I finished grad school I thought it would elevate me past the dead end streets I had previously encountered. I ventured out on my new career and instead recently encountered a vicious monster but she picked on the wrong person. I was at first alone in my fight to expose this person and then slowly encouraged others to come forward. I have the resources and confidence now to do this whereas before I wouldn’t have had the nerve.

I learned that when it comes to doing the right thing most people almost always do the opposite by keeping their mouth shut because they are scared and because it is easier not to fight back. I have yet to know what the outcome will be but one of the results will be putting my life on hold in the meantime. I chose a particular job to make a difference but instead I got crapped on.

Yesterday I hung out with my former reality t.v. star friend and our socialite friend who used to date Price Albert of Monaco. “Sonya” our friend used to be in the gossip pages here in New York discussing her relationship with the prince. It’s fun to read those articles but she doesn’t present herself as one would expect. She is a giving woman with a true heart of gold. Along with my supportive friends and family, Sonya has now extended her hand to me in support of my plight. What she has done for me has made me realize that for every 5 people who turn away there is one person who will help, as opposed to none.

I’ve been working since I was fifteen years old. My biggest fear was that my street smarts would eventually turn into jaded cynicism. As of yet, I still anticipate the dream and no one has gotten the better of me.

Sincerely yours,

Rita Hayworth

I'd Rather Be With My Friends

So I talked to this guy, “what’s his name “. His friend, “what’s her name” got busy with Derek Jeter. This other guy, ”what’s his name” has a friend, “what’s her name”, who got even busier with David Wells when he was still a Yankee. It seems that everyone In NYC knows someone who knows someone or is someone who “got it on” with a Yankee. An acquaintance of mine made out with Rocco Di Spirito. I guess he never really pursued her afterwards. But making out with him seems to be her crowning achievement thus far.

I used to work as a hostess in a restaurant here in New York City. I worked for a brief time there. Derek Jeter and his pals frequented it. I once had a patron pay for Jeter’s entire dinner because Jeter signed his son’s autograph. This guy felt like a “big wheel” paying for his dinner. He never even thanked me for telling his precocious spoiled son where Jeter was sitting. I couldn’t believe that he paid for dinner for Jeter, who so obviously does not need handouts! Jeter was very often mobbed and inaccessible but handled it with quiet class. Many of the men who worked at the restaurant classified him as an arrogant jerk. Jeter didn’t seem to have anything to prove, and I thought he acted appropriately and not out of the ordinary. I was also told by another “what’s his name” that when he once hung out at Jeter’s place that Jeter was “‘weird.” Well, if I had a bunch of unfamiliar people in my apartment, I would probably be acting weird too. I’ve noticed that men who have “something to prove “are very often the arrogant jerks.

I wonder if Derek Jeter knows how many girls he has actually “hooked up” with. I wonder if Rocco Di Spirito actually initiated the “make out” or maybe it was the other way around. I am beginning NOT to believe lately “what’s his name” who knows “what’s her name “ who talked to “what’s her name “ who hooked up with Jeter, Wells, etc etc, blah, blah.

I don’t know these guys personally and I could care less. I’ve never asked a celebrity yet for an autograph because I think that they very often receive undeserved accolades. Some are fascinating but the majority of them are not. However, in New York name dropping and having so called celebrity associations to be “somebody” is huge. Also, being a celebrity automatically makes them the sexual conquests of untolds amounts of people. It gets tiresome to hear. The “scene” in New York can sometimes rub me the wrong way. I’m uncomfortable when I am in the presence of celebrity obsessed people with huge amounts of acquaintances and no real heartfelt connections.

It’s interesting to hang around those people but when I go home I just want to call my real friends. What is it about friendships that make being among friends so much richer than being among the most accomplished and interesting strangers.

Sincerely yours,

Rita Hayworth

The Liberals Are Shaking

Fletch, surprisingly, they are not big and hairy with gold chains, in fact, they are the complete opposite in New York City gyms, making them harder to detect and more likely to talk to.:-)

Watching Nancy Reagan broke my heart. I was too young to ever vote for Ronald Reagan or truly appreciate who he was. He decimated liberalism, as we know it. In other words, Democrats voted for President Reagan. As Reagan said, he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the party left him. President Reagan left us with grace, eloquence and dignity. Afterwards we were presented with a true phony by the name of Clinton, whose political views swayed whichever way the winds blew. Clinton fooled many Americans into thinking that he was the great man that Reagan was. Instead Clinton left us with a legacy of shame, disgrace and failed policies. He left a stain on the presidency. The current President Bush may not be Reagan but he also doesn’t try to be. President Bush is a long distance runner who may make it to the finish line.

Reagan was hidden for over ten years, tucked away. The liberals are afraid because he is now being “heard” again and the Clinton generation (my generation) is gaining a greater understanding about Reagan and his policies. This may give us a better perspective on judging Clinton and President Bush. The liberals are shaking. I heard some celebrities recently proclaiming Michael Moore to be a man of great insight and wisdom in regards to his recent propaganda, Fahrenheit 9-11. That fat blowhard is a prime example that we have a long way to go before vicious, close minded, warped, liberalism is really understood.

Sincerely Yours,
Rita Hayworth

Gym Narcissists

I have radar for narcissistic men. There are quite a few of them In New York City. I determine it early on and then I am finished with them. I will often find them in my gym. I am approached enough there. I try my best to keep to myself because I take my workouts seriously. Sometimes someone will go out of their way to be friendly and I will be friendly back because of their effort. I appreciate men who expend effort because men who play hard to get play themselves nowhere. I am not the type to make the first move. I am only apprehensive because I very often have to shoot men down. Being the shooter can be uncomfortable in those situations because you will see them on a daily basis. I may like them as a person but realize that he and I wouldn’t get along if we dated. I have to be very selective if I actually do date someone from my gym because it could be very uncomfortable. I find the worst kinds of men to encounter there are the narcissists.

I have no time or patience for narcissists. Last week a narcissist was exposed. Unknowing to him he is “done”. Once you get on my bad side it is very hard to get back on my good side and virtually impossible if you don’t know me very well to begin with. Here are ten signs of a narcissicist in my gym.

1.	He talks to every attractive female in the gym. Every single one.
2.	Some will usually expect the girls to always initiate conversation.
3.	Their charm is a disguise for an extreme need to be the center of attention.
4.	They may seem gregarious and likable at first, but their revealing immaturity is astounding.
5.	Some will not make the effort to hold up their end of the conversation. Too much work.
6.	They can dish out sarcasm but they “can’t take it “ if you dish it back.
7.	They will stand near you or pass by you as much as possible so that they are always in your view.
8.	They expect an enormous” welcome” by all, including you, when they enter the gym.
9.	They are dumbfounded and irritated if you ignore them.
10.They will then go out of their way to show you that “they are ignoring you”. They forget that to ignore means just that.

By the way, Fletch, you are absolutely right and Jessica that was funny.

Sincerely yours,
Rita Hayworth

Married and Bored or Single and Lonely?

My friend “Ann” is a lawyer. She is very smart, cute and works too much. She has been using the internet dating service, Match, for years because she doesn’t have time for anything else. She doesn’t get angry if the supposed, good looking, 6’ ft, athletic guy she meets is actually ten years older, out of shape and 5”7. She has an open mind and a sense of humor, which is a must for that.

However she briefly lost her sense of humor. She dated one supposedly charming man for a couple of months. It ended in March when he simply stopped calling her. She was not happy about it and did spend some unnecessary time obsessing about the whole thing. Last week she spotted him in the bank. What she noticed above all else, in the bank, was the prominently displayed wedding ring on his finger! She didn’t think that was very funny. Apparently, he didn’t think so either because he turned white when he saw her. However, she felt better knowing that it wasn’t “her” but it was him. Unfortunately, her time was wasted during and after the whole process of dating him, considering, that unknowing to her, he was married at the time.

Another friend of mine “Lea” is happily dating a married man. There are no deceptions she knows his situation and is content with it. He never brings her out in public but spends inordinate amounts of time in her apartment. Unfortunately, I have to listen to her relationship as if it is a normal one. I have to contain my judgments and watch and listen helplessly as she idiotically wastes her life.

I have another acquaintance “Brianna”. She was having an affair with one of the directors of All My Children. Apparently, he is a habitual adulterer according to rumors on the set. She is an aspiring actress and a spaceshot. She was under the delusion that he cared about her. He is now pretty much “done” with Brianna. She is starting to call his house and hang up on his obviously pathetic wife. She didn’t even get a boost for her acting career. Brianna is starting to drink more than usual and laments the fact that he couldn’t keep it up for more than two or three minutes at a time.

Well I have a thought about all of this. Don’t tell me that I need to be married and having children by the time I’m in my thirties. Age is just a number.

Married and bored or single and lonely? I think that was one of Chris Rock’s quotes. Hmmm, right now I ‘ll take the second with an occasional bout of New York City loneliness. When and if I actually fall prey to the first, hopefully, I will be unspoiled enough and waited long enough not to be bored.

Sincerely yours,
Rita Hayworth

Take a cue

Fletch, I’m thinking you rock instead. Thank you. Flattery will get you everywhere:-)

Friday night I hung out with my moody friend “Marianne”. Among her several I’m-listening-to-a-train-wreck disclosures, she proceeded to tell me how a man has never respected her. She expressed surprise that I never had a one night stand and wanted to know how I managed to have early insight and not make the same mistakes that she has made so far. We all make stupid mistakes! However, according to her, I never made the mistake of making myself sexually available to someone, only to be discarded. It is all too common. I’m tired of my friends telling me that they made themselves sexually available too soon in every way possible and then are surprised when they are emotionally in so much pain afterwards. It is redundant and exists among my friends in their late twenties and early thirties as much as it did when I was in college. I am weary of their pain and their regrets. They often feel dejected, hurt or almost numb to the reality that they slept with a man and got dumped. If some of my friends would just respect themselves more and learn from their mistakes then they wouldn’t get hurt so much. It is really unnecessary. Let’s not forget about all of the rampant STD’s and fear of pregnancy. This supposedly harmless casual pleasure is actually causing most of their problems with guys. The reasons are all and always one in the same.

It’s simple; men do not get as emotionally attached as women do when it comes to sex. There is this idea going around that we are “just like men” when it comes to sex. Well, we aren’t! Yes, women are just as sexual and yes, women need it just as much. However, no matter how much women pretend, or try and lie to their friends and themselves, they will never be able to emotionally detach themselves from the act of sex, as frequently as men are able to do. When women have sex they actually release a chemical hormone, which causes them to become emotionally attached. Many men value their independence more than anything. Being independent keeps you comfortably detached. If more women took a cue from men in the independence department, maybe they would not feel the need to compromise themselves in order to have a “boyfriend”.

Some of my friends are finding affirmation in a man who finds them desirable enough to sleep with. Too many of my friends believe they will sustain a man’s interest just because they are having sex with him. Girls, if you keep putting out, you are just giving in to the potential dog that exists in every man.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, I love men, but I am not stupid enough to believe that the guy in the gym last weekend who elaborated at length on my “hotness” was interested in getting to know me as a person.

For me, what’s between my legs is not a revolving door. There is a security lock on the door and the combination is a secret.

Republican?

To the gracious Scotsman who enjoys my blog. Thank you. I enjoyed your comment. This is in response to the comment made on my blog April 5, 2004.

I would like to ask why would anyone infer that I am Republican? I simply said I will never be a liberal. Inferring anything else is inferring too much. I never said I hate the French. I said I dislike them and there is a difference.

In response to your comments about Bush: Bush was a very popular governor of Texas. He was a governor before he was President. Beforehand, he earned a living through his business ventures and wasn’t first and foremost a politician. He knows what the business world is for better and for worse. He has a lot of business experience, which means learning from both failure and success. He took the failing Texas rangers and made them successful. Kerry has no business background Kerry never was a practicing lawyer. Kerry became a senator largely on his stance on the Vietnam war. He married an affluent woman and you know the rest.

In response to your comments about the French: If it weren’t for the Americans, the French would have been defeated in WWI and WWII and occupied by Nazis. Have you ever heard of the Vichy French? Probably not. The Vichy French were helping the Germans during WWII. They were socialistic and fascist. This is the side of the French we are dealing with now. Presently the French are socialists and they didn’t help us for economic reasons and that is why they sided with the Russians and Germans.

I don’t believe Bush is without fault. Once you occupy you have problems. The main problem is we are acting on political correctness right now. If these occupation problems continue then it doesn’t make Bush look good.

I want to see the full tape in its entirety when Nick Berg was beheaded along with the gruesome death of Daniel Pearl and the appalling death of Fabrizio Quattrocchi who was shot in the head. Seeing the picture of a man about to be mutilated is much different than seeing the actually mutilations! Maybe then the liberals will realize what we are really dealing with. It is only fair because we were shown the disgusting pictures of the prison abuse. What would the liberals think if they saw those Americans getting their throats slit in the airplanes on 9/11? Or maybe they also need to see in entirety the people fall to the ground from the top of the World Trade Center. One scandal and they want Rumsfeld to resign. Puleeeese! Anyone who disliked Rumsfeld before will only use this obviously as a reason to complain about him,

Do I feel differently about President Bush regarding the prison abuse? Nope. Do I think Rumsfeld was directly responsible for the abuse? Nope. Do I think Rumsfeld should resign? Nope. Do I think the abuse was wrong? Yup. Do I think the American prison guards should be punished? Yup. Do I think we made a mistake going in to Iraq? Nope. Do I think we should make peace with the Iraqis? Nope. Do I think the Iraqi’s had the right to behead an American for it? Nope. Did we behead any Iraqi’s? Nope. Do I think the Liberals are justified? Nope. Do I think suicide bombing is acceptable? Nope. Will I vote for Bush? Yup. Well, that is all I have to say on this subject.

To the others who have commented such as Suzy Q, Helena and Andrea I appreciated your insights. Oh and by the way Snoop, you’re welcome.

Once again I will state that I have made no implications about being a Republican. However, I am not a liberal. Hmmmm . . . how odd? Here are ten reasons why people are surprised I am not a liberal.

1. I am not a dork.
2. I occasionally wear low riding jeans and show my abs.
3. I will not turn down a good party.
4. My friends are varied and some are very eccentric.
5. I appear wild on the outside but am surprisingly steady on the inside.
6. I wouldn’t be caught dead in a button up shirt or khaki shorts.
7.I classify many men as “dorks”.
8. I believe being sexy and overtly feminine is a necessity.
9. I do not get offended when men flirt with me.
10. I have good hair.

Sincerely Yours,

Rita Hayworth

Why Did He Bother?

Recently one of my best friends complained to me about a guy she met from White Plains. (She lives in Manhattan). They met at an event and talked for a little while. He called the day after and they had a very good phone conversation. There was no doubt that there was intellectual and physical chemistry between them. However, he didn’t call again. There are quite a few possibilities: he could be a confirmed bachelor, married or engaged. However, we figured out that the commute of over an hour into Manhattan was too inconvenient for him. This is the reason why he didn’t continue to pursue it. We could be wrong but there is unanimous agreement about this among both our girlfriends and guy friends.

You see men are really hung up on convenience. In my own experience, I have had men whine when they live on the Upper West side or Murray Hill and they have to travel the god awful distance to the Upper East to meet me (I am not joking). I understand this because men usually have to be the ones to pick the girl up etc, etc. However, my recent date from Murray Hill acted like the Upper East Side was another state altogether. He stated he didn’t know much about that area and he would have a lot of trouble knowing where to go for anything, etc., etc. Some men will practically scream with joy when it is discovered that we both live on the Upper East Side. If we are actually within a six block radius they are often on the verge of tears from happiness.

Well, I have another conclusion to draw from all of this. If a man is seriously not looking for a relationship then any little inconvenience will be too inconvenient for him. Myself and a few of my friends are not into those casual “let’s-call-and-see-each-other-every-three-weeks” arrangements. It is as much a waste of time as dating some mindless frat-boy type. My friends and I are among those few who are looking for something substantial. So why did Mr. White Plains bother to call my friend only to change his mind later? You see, he is one of those “busy bachelors”. My best friend is a beautiful girl and a unique person. You don’t meet many girls like her. I am sure that this guy thinks that he will continue to meet girls like her every day. He is thirty five years old. In five years, it’s likely he will suddenly be “seriously looking”. He will then realize that he doesn’t bump into substance on a regular basis. He may remember five years ago that girl in the stunning red dress and realize that he may have made a mistake. I do believe that we can all make those kinds of mistakes. It is better to meet the right person at the wrong time than the wrong person at the right time. If you snooze, you lose.

Sincerely Yours,

Rita Hayworth

Prozac Generation?

I recently hung out with a new friend of mine. She promptly revealed to me that she is a former bulimic, has been on antidepressants for years and regrets her recent one night stand. For most people this kind of early disclosure would have freaked them out. I, of course, did not bat an eye. The first reason would be that she is a girl and because of that I have no romantic interest in her, so I am less apprehensive. Also, she is just one of many of my friends who are medicated. In fact I am surprised when any of my twenty something friends are actually not medicated. I have one bipolar friend and quite a few other friends who have used antidepressants for many years. It is quite commonplace. The words Prozac, Zoloft, Xanax, Lorazopam, and others are often heard in conversation amongst my friends. Sometimes it almost seems like I am the only one who is NOT medicated. There have been times when I look back and I think well, maybe it would have helped. The twenties are turbulent years. All you ever think about is where am I going, what am I doing, who will I be, will I figure anything out. Small bouts of depression are not uncommon. I managed to overcome those bouts and become stronger.

If you are genetically wired to be bipolar or depressed then medication is the right path for you because you can’t function otherwise. Genetically you have no control. However, an unmedicated friend of mine went through many tests to discover that she had acid reflux. Several doctors offered her tranquilizers and/or antidepressants because they couldn’t figure out what the problem was. She repeatedly stated that she wasn’t depressed or anxious. He worries were from that weird tight feeling in her throat. However, some doctors were all too eager to medicate her. My bipolar friend takes not only her daily medication but is encouraged to take two Xanax a night. TWO A NIGHT. That seems excessive even for someone who is bipolar. I’m really happy that I never went to a doctor every time I was feeling down because maybe I would have turned into a serious pill popper. However, I wonder: are twenty-something women over medicated? Have twenty-somethings become the Prozac generation?

Sincerely yours,

Rita Hayworth

Throw These By The Wayside!

Well, it is return of the spring weather here in New York City. Many women with great zest are wearing the spring fashions. However, I have compiled a top ten list of fashions that need to be thrown by the wayside as soon as possible. Take heed of this please, and the world will be a much better place visually this spring and summer.

1. Women with a spare tire should not wear low rider jeans. I do not want to see your sagging, fat waist spilling out of your too low jeans. Hit the gym or go shopping for plenty of other attractive alternatives.

2. Thongs are not meant to be seen as a fashion accessory. Thongs are meant to prevent visible panty lines.

3. If your breasts are the size of watermelons, squeezing those melons into revealing too- tight tops actually makes you look trashy. Make the most of what God gave you, but be classy.

4. Women with really dark hair bleaching it blonde. Yuck! Beyonce looks great because she is on T.V. Celebrities look great on T.V because they have stylists and makeup artists. However, pulling it off in real life is a feat. (This also goes for the reverse – light haired women dying their hair black.)

5. Visible Tattoos. It has become a “trend”. It looks o.k. on the stars for the same reasons stated in #4. But, ladies, in real life it just looks low class.

6. Short tops. As I said in #1, unless you have a six pack, keep it covered.

7. Whether you are on the beach or in the office, don’t wear anything two sizes two small.

8. Belly button piercings. They are becoming passe.

9. Minis with stilettos. Bad idea. Can you say hooker?

10. Dark melanoma “ I will look like my grandmother by the time I’m 40” tans. It is so 80’s.

Sincerely yours,

Rita Hayworth

Being Wronged!

When it comes to being wronged, what do we do? It seems that many friends of mine and I have been seriously wronged in some way or another. I am not talking about the usual boring man/woman relationship wrong. I am talking about people we know who go out of their way to damage or destroy our lives. You’re innocently sitting around and they decide that they dislike you for no apparent rhyme or reason. After this decision they will take measured steps to subsequently hurt you or destroy your life. This kind of thing very often happens in the workplace. Personal attacks are often unforeseen, unwarranted and undeserved. So we can either lie down and take it or fight back. You have to remember, if you kiss ass and brownnose the bully, the bullying will never end. You will move on to your next position and there will be another bully waiting for you. Basically you need to get in your head a “back off or I will take you on” mentality. This is hard to do for brownnosing, eager to please, insecure doormats. However, I think that we can all learn to be more assertive. Here is a list of ten things you may take into account.

1.	It is to your benefit to look for and get a job where employees are protected by a union. However, I realize this is not possible for people in many professions.
2.	If you actually are a member of a union, then be aware of your union rights and exercise them to the fullest extent.
3.	Never cry in front of your superiors or colleagues. NEVER! This is a sign of weakness. Suck it up and cry afterwards in private.
4.	Remember that not everyone at work will like you, but they need to respect you.
5.	Demand respect in the most diplomatic way that you can.
6.	Let your colleagues know in a SUBTLE way that you are not a person to be messed with.
7.	Determine early on whom you can trust and whom you cannot trust at work.
8.	Beware of brownnosing colleagues.
9.	Never show your insecurities. (This does not mean be afraid to admit when you don’t know how to do something.) Appear willing to learn, but confident.
10.	Don’t forget to be courteous to everyone at work. The cleaning staff may know a lot more than you realize.

If you encounter a psychotic boss and there is nothing to be done, then remember that you did everything thing possible to remedy the situation and left with your dignity. Remember that you never cried in front of him or her and that is what they always want. Remember that what goes around comes around and they will get theirs. You never know when opportunity will strike and you may be the one to give it to them :-) There is always a reason behind every life experience. You may not know what the reason is for a very long time but some day you will understand. I am still waiting for some of those reasons, but I am confident that they will come.

Sincerely yours,

Rita Hayworth

My Friend The Reality T.V. Star

Well, last night I went out with my friend, a former “reality T.V.”star. I couldn’t tell you who she is. However, she is definitely getting her fifteen minutes. She loves the attention and I have to admit it is fun to be in her company and watch people make a fuss over her. However, the people who approach her are generally wanna be’s, celebrity obsessed, self involved, kind of people. Well, I sat innocently last night and proceeded to offend one of her so-called fans. You see he was, attractive, pompous and needed to be the center of attention. I found him to be boring and had absolutely no reason to pay any attention to him. He repeatedly stated to my friend that my indifference towards him was obvious and insulting. How can you possibly insult someone without actually insulting him or her? Please get over your self!

So, I have compiled ten reasons why I will not pay attention to you.

1.	You tell me that you turned down being the “bachelor”.
2.	You state that you were once approached to be a model.
3.	You say you have a girlfriend but will not stop trying to talk to me.
4.	You say you respect what I do, what my friend does, what her friend does and the friend of her friend.
5.	You state that you are an Ivy League graduate more than once (yawn).
6.	You continuously stare at me but are too afraid to come over and say hello.
7.	The world obviously revolves around you.
8.	You’re married and looking to score.
9.	You have made too many sexual references and cursed too much in the course of two minutes.
10.	I don’t like you.

Sincerely Yours,
Rita Hayworth

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lets-be-blunt.blogspot.com/2004/04/my-friend-reality-tv-star.html' title='My Friend The Reality T.V. Bush lover? Where did you infer that? I simply said that I am not and never will be a liberal. I appreciate Bush’s management of foreign policy. To infer otherwise is inferring too much.

In response to your statements: What comments did Bush make? The two Koreans have been “talking” to each other since 1953 and they still are. Recently there was a reunion of relatives from both countries during the Bush administration. If you read the papers you would have known this.

North Korea was able to get materials from China to make nuclear weapons. These materials were given to them by trade negotiations through U. S. companies. This was known about by the Clinton administration and was not stopped. Now North Korea talks to South Korea with a big “stick” in their hand called the nuclear weapon. This occurred two years before Bush took office.

You say that we need to rid ourselves from terrorism within the U.S.? Isn’t it the liberals that are against the patriotic act, which is describing exactly what you are stating about illegal immigration? So, you’re one of those Kerry lovers. Eh, how unfortunate. You may want to get your facts straight next time.

P.S. No one is perfect and I do not judge others imperfections. My list was not a complaint but just an observation that men often act like the woman.

Men are always complaining that they need their space and that women are too emotionally needy. When they encounter the opposite they are suddenly intimidated! Recently, I dated a man who stated to me that he and his last girlfriend called each other FOUR times a day! He said that he broke if off with her because HE felt smothered. While dating me he would make the following statements: “if I didn’t call you, would you have called me?” “ Are you going to call me?” Or my favorite, which was “ Isn’t it your turn to call me?” He wanted to see me consistently and thought that I would suddenly become his girlfriend within a short period of time. He still does not understand why I did not wish to continue dating him. He was needy and didn’t understand why I needed my space. He actually had the nerve to accuse his last girlfriend of smothering him! So I ask, why do men complain so much, when they in fact, act like women in the relationship?

I'm Not A Liberal

Well, as usual I am hearing the usual crap in the news about not using excessive force in Iraq for fear that we may offend the Iraqis. To all those Bush haters and extreme lefties, let me share a few tidbits with you: Winston Churchill predicted that Hitler would attack and warned that England should take steps to prevent this. The anti war protestors in America and England were tremendous? Amazing! The prime minister of England (Chamberlain) stated that Hitler made a “pact” with England promising not to invade Europe. Well, Hitler most certainly invaded and conquered most of Europe, which proved Churchill to be CORRECT. Despite the previous successes of Hitler, it took the attack on Pearl Harbor to unite the American resolve to attack, Imagine if Roosevelt and other political leaders had given those protestors credence? IMAGINE what the world would have been like today?

We have lost six hundred American soldiers thus far in Iraq (one year at war). We were losing three hundred American soldiers A DAY and then thousands a day at the height of WWII (four years at war). The “amount” of life lost doesn’t make it any less or more precious but, stop and think about this! Maybe, you may consider the idea that freedom doesn’t come free? Have you heard the expression that “the road to victory is long and hard?” Do you know that history repeats itself? We are supposed to learn from history!

We are fighting a religious war this time around rather than a territorial one and it isn’t going to be easy. There is a religious motivation on the part of Islamic Fascists. If you think that victory is going to be accomplished by appeasing people in the Middle East then your mind is seriously compromised. America has a backbone. America doesn’t rollover like Spain and give in to terrorists. Did you know that if we hadn’t dropped the two atomic bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, then we would have lost millions of American and Japanese lives as opposed to the thousands lost. We were in the process of overthrowing a Japanese General who could have cared less about Japanese life let alone American lives. “ All that is necessary for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing.”-Edmund Burke, 18th –century British statesman

Here are ten reasons why I will NEVER be a liberal.

1.	I like Bush and his management of foreign policy.

2.	I believe the world is black and white in terms of “good and evil.” Evil must be stopped at all costs.

3.	I know that the war in Irag has stopped or prevented many future plots against American soil.

4.	The leftist biased media such as the New York Times and others do not coerce me.

5.	I believe that racial profiling is necessary before I step on a plane, which I consider to be a coffin in the sky.

6.	I didn’t vote for Gore. Didn’t even consider it.

7.	I dislike the United Nations and France. By the way, did you know that America LIBERATED France in WWII? As usual America gets nothing in return.

8.	I believe that the influx of ILLEGAL Immigrants into this country has become a problem.

9.	I like leaders who kick ass such as Guiliani and Bush. They don’t take any crap.

10.	Liberals are wishy washy, and wimpy when it comes to foreign policy.

Sincerely Yours,
Rita Hayworth

I'm Not Samantha

I’ve been living in New York City for almost seven years now. It is very close to what you see portrayed on T.V. It has the glamour, without a doubt. It is an unspoken rule that if you have lived here for five straight years then you are considered a true New Yorker. I have passed all of the tests. The saying “if you can make it here you can make it anywhere” couldn’t be more true. The relationship I have had with this city has been the most dysfunctional in my life, except maybe for one of my siblings. However, I have stayed with it through the good times and the bad. You need to be a combination or at least have one of the following attributes to make it here successfully: resourceful, street smart, brilliant, talented, beautiful, wealthy, fast paced

I started my life here shortly before the show Sex and the City started. I don’t own any Manolo Blahniks because I have my enormous rent to pay. I have the Carrie “body” not that this is the be all and end all. I try to dress well as she did with what little I make, which isn’t much, considering that this is one of the most expensive cities in the world. However, I need to clarify one thing, “Samantha” is over the top. Samantha is not a good portrayal of the women here, especially for me. Since when did it become cool for women to sleep with men five minutes after meeting them? One of my angst’s is the constant presumption of the men in this city that I will be blowing and moaning with them by the end of the first date. Just recently this weekend I went on a date and his intentions were pretty obvious. Here is a list I compiled of ten signs that a man just wants to get laid on the first date.

1. He tells you what side of the bed he likes to sleep on when he is with someone.
2. He asks you “Don’t you just ever go with that feeling?”
3. He takes you out on a weeknight at 6:00. Thus buying him a longer evening to get laid.
4. He asks if you want to go to his place, after dinner watch T.V and have a few drinks, nothing more.
5. He states that he and his last girlfriend “got in on” after the first date and were able to have a very successful relationship afterwards.
6. He asks you for the fifth time if you would like to go to his place after dinner and states that he is not pressuring you.
7. He says that even though he and his last girlfriend banged each other after the first date he knew that she did not do that with any other men.
8. He says, “I will respect your boundaries.”
9. He says that you are a special girl and you deserve the very best tonight.
10 He asks, “What is your name again?”

Sincerely yours,
Rita Hayworth

Do Real Men Exist In NYC?

I am not here to please the masses. I am here to tell it like it is. If you read this blog and are up for a discussion then I will read and respond to you. If you are offended and wish to insult me rather than debate, I suggest you read more politically correct and eager to please blogs of which there are plenty.

I am a single young woman living in Manhattan. You are invited to enter into my world of dating mayhem and politically incorrect politics. I welcome opposing viewpoints, questions and any insights you may have to offer.

Sincerely yours,

Rita Hayworth

My first subject of the day is my angst at finding what I consider to be a “real man”. Here is a short list of what I consider to be lacking here in New York. However, I am still hopeful that a few do exist somewhere in this city.

1.Real men should never ask me what my sign is or even be remotely interested in what it actually is.

2.Real men should NEVER EVER whine that the women they are dating do not call them more often.

3.Real men should not wear shorts above the knee. This means under no circumstances - even if they jog.

4.Real men appreciate women who haven’t been around every block. They know that there have been some unsavory corners around some of those blocks.

5.Real men may disagree with war but realize that freedom is sometimes worth fighting for and appreciate those who have fought for it.

6.Real men know the difference between a girl who is playing hard to get and a girl who is ACTUALLY hard to get.

7.Real men do not care what they look like in the gym, or any other athletic venue. They are unaffected by their own sweat and ratty sweatpants.

8.Real men will admit to themselves and a few others that they are obsessed with their hair and going bald.

9.Real men can sometimes eat in diners with a five o’clock shadow and hair uncombed and do not always need to be in a five star restaurant to prove their self worth.

10.Real men will not go for the inexpensive blowjob at their friend’s bachelor party because they do not know where that stripper’s mouth has been.
